Shorts Review: Sanity Not Included, Season 4 Episode 6
Spoilers Below
Although the first few skits of Episode 6 were pretty lousy, and I began to get worried that this episode would be a dud, the episode took a positive turn about 2 ½ minutes in. The first laughs came from the Scooby Doo gag, and the Metal Gear Solid one, for some odd reason.
I also enjoyed the slow-mo, dramatic, prison beating reaction. And the hostage situation.
I’ll also mention the clip with Luigi going all Alderaan on a planet by accident, and the commercial for Driver: Road Rage (“Give us your money!”) The Sanity Not Included guys seem to be quite adept at producing fake commercials, with one genuinely funny ad almost every episode.
The Aleks & Dex segment wasn’t especially worthwhile, so that’s a bit of a drag, but seeing them shwasty-face drunk was good for at least a couple laughs.
I am also still disappointed in the SNI crew for their continuing use of homophobic slurs. It’s not that those words can’t be used at all (Arby n the Chief pulls it off well in a satirical way) it’s the timing of the use. Generally Sanity uses them as throw away insults; so not in situations that actually use the words’ meaning in any way, but just as a generic insult. If you’re going to use a generic insult, use a different one instead, or better yet: come up with an insult that’s actually creative.
Still, this was an entertaining and well-written show, with a lot of jokes crammed into a short installment. Even with some misses, the successful laughs blew everything away.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
