Review: Phineas and Ferb ”Backyard Hodge Podge”
Spoilers Below
Phineas and Ferb decide to make an invention casserole today, effectively a hodge podge of their old inventions all molded into one. Candace is off listening to her father practice his speech for something so she seems to be preoccupied anyway. Thanks to Parry Gripp, the big hodge podge machine is up and everyone’s having a good time. Eventually a tired as hell Linda comes outside to take a break after baking pies all day and she sees exactly what is being built in her backward!
Meanwhile, Doof is making lots of money and Major wants to find out why. Turns out, Doof has a new contraption that causes blurred vision in an attempt to cash in on eye exams. Both Perry and Doof get zapped, however, so now they gotta fight blind. Like normal, Perry wins but not before a zap goes off and hits Candace causing her to go blind and not be able to make out what her brothers built. This causes Linda to go lay down and chalk up whatever she has seen as merely an illusion.
This week’s P&F was a pretty standard, but there were such cool twists that it was hard for me not to enjoy myself. I had no idea who Parry Gripp was but I guess I do now because he was rather entertaining and an unexpected surprise to say the least. I enjoyed the Perry bit, too but I feel both endings, although smartly crafted, were rushed probably due to all of the extra stuffing that was the Linda and Larry contributions. The episode itself was a hodge podge of writing that had high points, but was overall still generic.
