FORD Apologizes for Cartoon Ad…Not Sure Why

After the jump, we take a look at a Cartoon ad that seems to have people living in India up and arms leaving American manufacturer Ford to apologize. Your thoughts??

The tagline for this article is ‘”Leave Your Worries Behind.” and I think its pretty damn funny.  The ad is out promoting the new Ford Figo and to be honest I think its working because now I really want one. I mean, you can fit THREE bodies in the back! And any car that can tote the collective fat asses of Kim and Khloe Kardashian is a car that should make its way over to the States. That said, I don’t really know what the big fuss is about. EVERY married man in America has thought about tying up their wives, and then driving the car off of a cliff onto some jagged rocks.

The ad  is getting international recognition and a bunch of free press. Yea, Ford put out a statement to CNBC saying:

We deeply regret this incident and agree with our agency partners that it should have never happened. The posters are contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within Ford and our agency partners. Together with our partners, we are reviewing approval and oversight processes to help ensure nothing like this ever happens again.

Ford’s ad agency WPP also issued a statement:

We deeply regret the publishing of posters that were distasteful and contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within WPP Group. These posters were never intended for paid publication and should never have been created, let alone uploaded to the Internet. This was the result of individuals acting without proper oversight and appropriate actions have been taken within the agency where they work to deal with the situation.

Again, part of me think its a stunt to get people talking and its working 10 fold as every outlet is showing this ad for free. And who doesn’t love saving ad dollars?
