REVIEW: PHINEAS AND FERB “Der Kinderlumper”

Spoilers Below

We’ve got a big Chinchilla race going on and Candace is hosting in attempts for her to get worldwide fame and fortune and for Stacy to be friends with someone who has worldwide fame and fortune.  Phineas and Ferb create big machines to help her out, but when Perry takes off we find out that Doof is planning to crash the event with a Der Kinderlumper! Evidently, this thing is a big huge ugly troll that steals kids that are bad…well according to the song that was sang to Doof when he was a kid. When Perry shows up, Doof’s -inator goes off and turns both him, Doof, and the racing Chin hillas into big huge trolls! Perry gets caged by Doof, of whom goes off to the race ceremony in an attempt to scare his brother and take over the tri-state area once and for all! However, Roger isn’t afraid of the Der Kinderlumper one bit, and instead remembers a slightly different tune of which is one more of happiness and cheer. Thankfully, the -inator effects wear off and all of the creatures turn back to normal.

We have yet another Phineas and Ferb episode where the plot is some sort of a competition, but there were a lot of subtle changes that made this one pretty fun. For example, the -inator actually worked properly and as a result Candace was begging her brothers for help! However, when the ray wears off, Candace brings back the whole ‘wanting to get her bros in trouble’ deal to no avail. Also, it isn’t very often that Perry stays captured for pretty much the entire episode! All these ingredients make for your standard fun-fare that is Phineas and Ferb even if nothing overtly exciting happens. Also, I didn’t think this one was particularly comical, but again the strong plot and subtle differences in the normal setup give this one a pass.
