COMICS REVIEW: PHINEAS AND FERB THE MAGAZINE HOLIDAY 2012 DOUBLE ISSUE
Today we do a quick rundown of the latest Phineas and Ferb magazine to see if its worth its weight in gold.
“Monkey See Monkey Doof”
Perry gets captured by Doof JUST in time for the evil scientist to show off his new machine that is set to turn him into a monkey dude! That’s right, Doof gets zapped into a half monkey/half scientist but Perry gets out of his trap, kicks the crap out of him, then gives him a banana which causes Doof to be distracted just long enough for the OWCA agent to fly away.
“The Substitute”
Doof calls in a substitute to help be a stand-in while the evil scientist watches his Mexican soap operas. Evil to the max!
“The Third Dimension”
Phineas and Ferb build a camera that they want to use to create REAL 3-D films. Their first feature film is called ‘The Beaver and the Pharmacist’ where Baljeet acts as a doctor for Buford’s Beaver and cures him of ailments but with a hefty price tag.
Where’s Perry? Well, he’s at Doof’s HQ and the evil scientist has a new machine set to turn downtown Danville into junk food city by launching a bunch of snacks to cover the streets! Perry gets loose and chases down Doof of whom takes off in a hovercraft that eventually crashes right outside Phineas and Ferb’s film premier. Doof actually trips on one of the scenes of the film, launches his ‘inator and turns the entire park theater into a popcorn extravaganza!
“Sick Bed”
Despite Candace being really sick, Phineas and Ferb drop in with all of their gadgets so as to help make their big sister feel better. Candace thinks this is a great opportunity in finally getting her brothers in trouble but the second she feels all better she wakes up and all her machines drive off before Linda could catch them!
“A Moment with Buford and Baljeet”
Baljeet and Isabella get presents from Buford…let’s hope he kept the receipts!
“Secrets from OWCA: The Organization without a Cool Acronym”
A funny short giving short detail on how everyone in OWCA contributes in the cleanliness of the office while Perry is fighting crime which apparently is better than grooming Major.
“Time-Out”
Perry kicks the crap out of Doof, but only after a sanctioned time-out!
“Perry the…Octopus?”
Doof zaps Perry so that he gets eight arms which makes for extra beatings!
“Agent In Training”
Perry gets a new trainee in Tristan the Terrier of whom has to learn the ropes not from Major but from Doof! That’s right, everything from the lock-up to the break out and finally to the beating with the destruction, Tristan gets a first class training.
“Behind the Scenes with Carl and Monogram”
Major in a OWCA talent show?? Not a good thing…
“Cake Daze”
Candace gets knocked out in a sugar coma when she slams into a house made by Phineas crafted entirely out of yummy cake!
“The Comic Hijinks of Norm & Doof”
Norm turns Doof into a pretzel.
“Sunny Disposition”
Phineas puts together a big huge fountain of which Candace uses as an excuse to get her mother on the phone for some bustin’! Unfortunately, Doof’s machine cuts out the sun making the fountain shut off long enough for Linda to inspect and see that nothing’s the matter.
Meanwhile, Doof comes up with a Storminator that will cause it to keep raining on everyone no matter what kind of special events are planned.Perry gets out of his trap, beats up Doof and gets the machine shut off again just in time for another Linda inspection and then a third until finally the machine gets destroyed which of course rains on Doof’s parade.
For $10 a piece Disney sure does ask a lot or its comic edition of Phineas and Ferb and despite the fact that there are a bunch(and I mean a BUNCH) of comics in this issue, the majority of them are short strips. To be honest, I felt like I was walking through the mall getting the free samples at the food court, but still was hungry enough to eat somewhere else. Quantity usually isn’t better than quality and in this case that holds true despite the fact that we get strong entrees with “Sunny Disposition” and “Agent In Training” the latter of which I thought was the best story of the bunch. But, for TEN BUCKS??? Meh,
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
