King Star King going online exclusive for Adult Swim
Is Adult Swim turning itself into a mini-Netflix?? If you had read our exclusive preview of King Star King which is starting June 15th, you may remember that the JJ Villard series was originally pitched to be a companion piece to Superjail! which is returning the same day for its fourth season. Well, now it looks like King Star King is getting a change in distribution.
According to the official Facebook page for JJ Villard, King Star King will NOT be coming on after new episodes of Superjail!, rather all six episodes will be uploaded and available starting on June 15th. To be honest…sounds pretty awesome!
The first episode of King Star King accrued more than a quarter-million streams on Youtube since its upload about five months ago. For those that don’t know, the series follows King Star King a punk rock, modern day he-man who falls from the realm of the gods to land as a fry cook in a slummy waffle joint. King Star King must regain his memory to defeat the evil (and adorable) Spring Bunny and rescue his love, the megababe Princess Snow White. Only then will King Star King regain his rightful place in the heavens. See our full preview of the first season of King Star King here.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
