English Dub Review: Lastman “We Will Dismember You”

I’m Mr. Dismember and I won’t fuck us over.

Overview(Spoilers Below)

This week, Howard and Siri head into Stark’s art gallery to get the cup that was revealed at the end of last week’s episode. On the way, we learn that Howard has abilities similar to Spider-Man’s Electro in that he’s able to transmit into electrical circuits that allow him to bypass high-end security. When Stark hears about this, he orders the power to be cut off and then attempts to hold Richard hostage using his own abilities to turn into a big huge monster that looks like a boa constrictor crossed with a hydra.

Richard’s able to escape and together with Howard the duo are able to take down the wretched beast and um…ruin his showing. Unfortunately, we learn that the cup can’t be stolen and instead has to be won.

Our Take

After a couple of slow episodes post the premiere, we’re right back to one of the craziest animated series I’ve ever seen. Props to the musical composition department for giving us a score that sounds like it’s right out of the Usual Suspects, and then to mix that with the fast-paced crazed battle scenes that were directed beautifully and without weakness. The story arc is starting to get more enjoyable as time goes on and I can’t wait to see future monster designs because this show is on the level of Rick and Morty in that department.

The slight drawback that I can really point to is the mouth animation were noticeably a bit harder to sell the dialogue, but really that’s just me splitting hairs. Lastman is one of the best-kept secrets in adult animation right now, and it’s about time the hungry fanbases hear about it.
