Upfronts 2015: Reilly says new animation by end of year for TBS?

More cartoons could be headed to TBS by the end of this year.

Yesterday, TBS had their Upfronts presentation brought to you by Kevin Reilly, and although none of the content touted seemed all that interesting, The Hollywood Reporter did have an interesting quote that came from the presentation:

”with Reilly touting a “huge” slate of “awesomely in-your-face and effortlessly diverse live-action comedies, original animation and big unscripted ideas with attitude, late-night talk and, of course, championship sports.”

Presently, the only original animation TBS exhibits is American Dad! which returns with three new episodes next Monday Night @ 9 pm ET/PT (check your local listings). So, to promise advertisers in Madison Square Garden that the network is touting a HUGE slate of original animation, then that means the guy that brought you Animation Domination could be hunting for new intellectual properties to develop, produce, and then air.

All of this could bode well for Adult Swim as well. Currently, new episodes of American Dad! that air also do so a week later on Adult Swim. It’s not far-fetched to think that new TBS shows could do the same. Take that, and add it to Adult Swim‘s impressive slate of new and returning shows, and you’ve got yourself a titan of a network.
