Upfronts 2013: @NBC doesn’t get animated for forseeable future

You would think that the decent ratings Community gets for its prime-time animation inspired airings would move the network to start picking up some animated pitches. Alas, they haven’t.

NBC

NBC has put out its list of shows both old and new that they plan on premiering this fall and there is nothing animated anywhere in sight. I don’t know much, but I think this pretty much puts dead in the water the Greg Daniels/Alan Yang animated series they were working on. To quote Jay Sherman…this stinks! Does NBC have the storied history that FOX has when it comes to animated comedy?? No, not at all. But, they have put up great efforts like God, the Devil, and Bob and for the last several years or so they have worked with both Greg Daniels (King of the Hill) and Dan Harmon (the upcoming Rick and Morty) so you would think the network would utilize that great talent and put on some bad ass toons other then the Community specials.

There were rumblings in the past with Mindy Kaling doing a series, but that was before she went to FOX and started on The Mindy Project. This tells me that even if she were going to pitch an animated show, it would probably go to FOX first for its Animation Domination lineup. If you want to check out all of the new NBC shows coming up, you can do so over on Deadline.com, but if you are looking for anything animated, you may wanna look elsewhere.
