Transformers Animated Series coming to Machinima
Hasbro and Machinima are teaming up to produce a new animated series inspired by Transformers: Combiner Wars in an effort for the toy-maker to appeal to older audiences of Transformers. According to the article:
Combiner Wars saw groups of Transformers be able to combine into one giant robot, known as a Combiner. Superion and Menasor were among the new robots that held the fate of the Transformers’ homeworld Cybertron in their hands.
Wanna know why this is a big deal? A few reasons. For starters, we are continuing to see Machinima solidify itself as a solid entertainment player with deals already in place to produce content for DC Comics. Hasbro is another serious brand, both of which currently air programming on Cartoon Network albeit for younger audiences. The other big deal is that action cartoons for adults are starting to grow in production numbers and TV networks can’t stop it. We haven’t had an animated action series geared towards adults in years aside from maybe Toonami programming which leaves fans starving for alternative niches in the animation business that isn’t just comedy and anime. Brands like Transformers, DC Comics, and others are just ripe for expansion to include all different age groups and this team up with Hasbro and Machinima could be a game-changer as a result.
The Transformers movies are terrible, so this could also be a great way to get more quality programming from Hasbro that hopefully has Michael Bay nowhere near it.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
