“The Simpsons” To Be ‘Inducted’ Into Baseball Hall of Fame

Can you believe it has been 25 years since the premiere of the iconic episode of The Simpsons “Homer At The Bat”? How does an episode that old stay relevant today? Steroids.
To help commemorate the importance of said episode in not just Simpsons and television lexicon but baseball allure as well The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will pay tribute to THE SIMPSONS’ place in American culture by honoring “Homer at the Bat” on Saturday, May 27.
A roundtable discussion will take place featuring both players that were depicted in the episode like Wade Boggs and Ozzie Smith, as well as executive producers for The Simpsons like Al Jean and Mike Reiss, director Jim Reardon, executive story editor Jeff Martin, and casting director Bonnie Pietila. The event is free and open to the public and will commence at 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. outside the Library entrance to the Hall of Fame in Cooper Park. An official ribbon-cutting on a SIMPSONS-themed exhibit display in the Museum. THE SIMPSONS will also be honored prior to the Hall of Fame Classic legends game taking place that afternoon at Cooperstown’s historic Doubleday Field. Today, the Baseball Hall of Fame features a signed copy of the script from that episode as well as a VHS tape.
