‘The Simpsons’ Thank Bolivian Protestors for Their Support

Simpsons Bolivia Thank You

As we previously reported, following the removal of The Simpsons from Bolivian network Unitel’s prime time lineup, 2,000 fans protested in three major cities on February 6th for its return. Their demands were answered, the show was reinstated, the airtime was increased from 45 minutes to two hours, and The Simpsons sent out a special message of appreciation to their supporters.

“Thank you Bolivia! Muchas, muchas gracias,” said the message on the show’s official Facebook page. It was accompanied by a video showing a scene from The Simpsons Movie that featured Springfield residents marching with lit torches, followed by photos of the march in La Paz.

The video also included a statement: “Thanks a lot to the educated mobs on Bolivian streets.”

Since its posting on Friday, the video has now been viewed more than 4.4 million times.
