While the “Chinpokomon” episode technically is more about the Pokemon craze from a merchandising standpoint and less the popular gaming franchise, if it weren’t for Pokemon the game, there is a high likelihood that this episode doesn’t happen and that would’ve sucked. It was one of the first such cases of South Park commenting on a popular fad, a trend that would continue pretty much every season thereinafter.
