Review: Welcome to the Wayne “8:08:08”
Crazy eights.
Overview (Spoilers Below)
It’s Saraline’s eighth birthday and she has no interest in a party, however, her friends want to throw one anyway. Stanza eventually tells Saraline about a mystery that unlocks at 8:08:08 but there are more pieces to the puzzle that Saraline has to discover, including collecting “eight” of something. Saraline puts together the Timbers, this time adding a couple more members to round out to seven, and soon finding out that she needs an eighth person to complete the team and to allow them to configure a puzzle. We eventually learn that Dennis, of whom Saraline didn’t invite to her party, is that eighth person along with the ninja and her friend both of who had joined the team earlier.
Eventually, the Spy, her crew, and an evil clown try to attack the group but are able to thwart their advances and complete the puzzle and learn some vague information about the Wayne and the importance of the Spy going after Andre, however, it looks like we’re going to have to wait until next week to learn exactly how this is going to play out.
Our Take
I liked the team building aspect with the rather common morale in a kids series to play together and not to exclude or hurt others’ feelings. The plot of the episode is a bit hefty in its approach and probably put too much on the table in terms of clarity, but the fight scenes at the end were some of the best that I’ve seen the show do up until this juncture. The character design for the evil clown was excellent and the choreography of the scene was very well done. I just need to see that plot tightened up a cinch, and I’m thinking that will happen for the show’s season finale happening next week.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
