Review: The Simpsons “Clown v. Board of Education”

Overview

Krusty opens a school for clowning, and it becomes the most successful thing he’s ever done.

Our Take

During the show’s sixth season, The Simpsons premiered an episode written by John Swartzwelder entitled “Homie the Clown”. If you haven’t seen this one, I implore you, jump on Disney+, watch it right now, it features Johnny Unitas and Dick Cavett and it’s an episode all about how Krusty launches a clown college to thwart the mob’s advances on his life after he gets behind on his bills.

It’s certainly a whole lot better than this Jeff Westbrook-written watered-down knockoff that has almost the exact same premise, less funny, and a perfectly good waste of both a Krusty episode and a Fat Tony episode. There are maybe one or two laughs with some of the other clowns, but other than that, this one has me rooting for AI to write next season. I mean, if the fear of the WGAStrong rallies is that AI may potentially write scripts that are inspired by past scripts of the show, then what the hell is the difference between this piece of shit effort that we just got?
