Review: The Casagrande’s “Throwing Pains; Lalo Land”

“Throwing Pains”

During a snow day, Ronnie Anne and her skater pals must battle for the gym space by playing dodgeball…

“Lalo Land”

The titular family prepares Lalo for his big audition to be Phoebe Powers’ new canine sidekick…

Our Take

For the first episode, much of the humor relieves heavily on physical comedy as much of the narrative is spent on the by-the-numbers sports montages you commonly see in films, especially the comedy Dodgeball but minus the adult humor or Ben Stiller. Here it’s unusual methods Ronnie Anne uses in an effort to train her circle of friends against the Dodgeball rivals who refuse to let anyone skateboard in the Gym.

The season two finale focuses on the family Dog Lalo entering a contest that could potentially put the dog into celebrity status but also in danger, however, a twist is revealed that not everything is what it seems…

While the first half was a decent Ronnie Anne & Friends episode (Akin to Lincoln’s circle of friends in the Loud House) It ended on an unexpected yet wholesome note. While the other was passable while commemorating another milestone for the show. It remains to be seen if they’ll keep going beyond Season 3, but at least this was a nice way to cap off season 2.
