English Dub Review: Oshi no Ko “Casting”
Overview:
Kana is at the end of her rope and decides to try to get back into acting.
Our Take(Spoilers):
I often talk about how much I love this show because it shows the dark side of show business. Well, I thought we were about to see just how dark it can get. Kana and a “friend” met at a bar, and Kana only went because an up-and-coming director would be there. They decide to exchange contact info and talk shop some other time. You probably know where this is going. Kana and the director end up spending time alone because the friend can’t get away from a party.
Kana and the director go back to his office, and of course, all the other employees have left for the day. We get a scene of Kana’s friend calling someone, and I thought it would be Aqua or something, so he could come rescue Kana. Turns out that Mr. Director isn’t as bad as we thought; he’s still a sleaze to be sure, but he didn’t force himself on Kana, and when she said no because she has feelings for someone else, he stopped and let her rant about Aqua.
You might be wondering why I mentioned the dark side of showbiz then? Well, for one, the fact that Kana considered sleeping with the guy to get her foot back in the door for acting wasn’t great, regardless of what happened. Two, it turns out her friend is a bitch, as Kana said, and called a paparazzi group to come and photograph Kana as she left the director’s office. So even though nothing happened, this is going to blow up in Kana’s face, and all this after Miyako gave a speech about letting them know when something like this might happen. I can’t wait to see what Aqua does to solve this situation because we all know he’s going to.
