Review: Squidbillies “Muscadine Wine”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Early and Tammi start a musical duet called “Muscadine Wine”. Early looks at this as his opportunity to finally score some dough, and after some “gigs” the two fib their way into a cruise ship performance that really doesn’t even happen. Fortunately, a slew of country music stars are onboard, but by now Early goes nuts and resorts to nearly taking the cruise hostage. He makes a daring escape into the treacherous waters below, but in Squidbillies no one really dies.

Our Take

With all of the brilliant musical performances Squidbillies has had over the years, you would think a musical episode would’ve happened a bunch sooner! In any event, starting a duet is a pretty typical premise, but if anyone’s gonna have to do one, it’s certainly Squidbillies. Featuring a stellar list of guest voices, the 30-minute episodes of Squidbillies are often-times some of my favorites to watch because I really think this show could be a longer series if it wanted to be. There is such a teaming cast of characters that Adult Swim would definitely have it’s closest take on The Simpsons or Family Guy should the network go ahead and order a dozen or so of these at a time, I’d be happy with it.
