Review: Phineas and Ferb ‘Sidetracked’
Overview (Spoilers Below)
OWCA has a Canadian chapter that is aptly named COWCA, and Perry has to team up with their agent Lyla to track down Doof before he takes a train to Canada to swap ideas with Canada’s evil doer Bannister. That said, Perry and Lyla don’t really get along and worse yet they both have to keep the fighting to their respected side of the country. Because of this rocky relationship, Doof is able to get the upper hand by knocking the two off the train, causing them to ride back up as a team on a two person train cart. Eventually, Doof escapes to the train roof where he accidentally smashes the controls to the train and as a result now they have to find a way to stop it. With a precious cargo on board including Canada’s prized moose,
Thankfully, Perry and Lyla are able to get everyone into the caboose then detach it from the rest of the train which lets them slow down, but not before Bannister swoops in on his chopper and whisks the moose and its collateral with it! Turns out Bannister wants this moose so that he can move from his home country of Greenland to the fine fair of Canada and this moose is just the ticket. Once Perry, Lyla, and Doof get on the chopper, the two agents end up having to fight off Bannister’s bots which eventually leads to Bannister’s capture thanks to Perry’s backup. Off to Niagara Falls!
Why can’t the peeps over at Phineas do 20 of these a year?? The setup to the plot was pretty great as we were basically getting the platypus view from the get to, only to be put on rousing adventure after adventure that saw our fearless furry hero take down all sorts of baddies. Samantha Bee was off the charts awesome as Lyla, and I have to give her special dibs for her singing as she does a wonderful job. Add in heavy metal-laden songs from the house band, Doof and Bannisters hijinks, and train plot that would make even Sterling Archer blush, and you’ve got yourself the best episode of the season by a mile. Do NOT get sidetracked with other shit to do, watch this episode!
