Review: Moonbeam City “The Legend of Circuit Lake”

Nice shot...

Spoilers Below

We come to find out that Rad used to be on a kids show and was tortured on there, too. The records clerk keeps all of this shit, but when Rad tries to get dirt on Dazzle the person running the joint sucks. As a result, Rad learns of an underground virtual reality chamber that is only supposed to be used for legit reasons. Obviously, Rad doesn’t, and ends up causing the system to go ballistic. With Rad trapped in a digital hell, Dazzle and the rest of the station gets questioned by internal affairs and it’s Dazzle that gets booked on the account of Rad’s murder.

Dazzle opts to skip trial and as a result gets life in prison at Moonbeam Correctional where a lot f his past arrests are housed.  Also house is Silca…a warden that ends up spoiling Dazzle’s secret that he’s a cop due to the fact that he won’t bang her out.

Dazzle does end up fucking the building’s security system which also helps him escape in time for Chrysalis to find Rad’s body in a warehouse hooked up to his virtual reality unit. With Chrysalis’ now deflated body discovered, Dazzle is cleared on charges and released from prison.

Our Take

Virtual reality is a hot topic nowadays with every major electronics manufacturer wanting a piece of the action. Sony, Nokia, Google, and others are hoping to tap into a potentially huge new market, but is anyone asking questions about the side effects? Moonbeam City does.

For both Dazzle and Rad you get instances where love and sex are part of the equation when determining the validity of virtual reality and while Dazzle’s bit was more  of a tryst, Rad’s certainly showed that people can get attached to this sort of thing rather easily.

Similar to what Pickle and Peanut did the other night on Disney XD, Rad’s digital world was an excellent portrayal of graphics and art that purposely looked dated which gave us a rather interesting juxtaposition. Dazzle’s was a bit more atypical, and even with the off-putting sex scene with a robot, the art direction could not be denied, and the series continues to showcase Titmouse’s brute strengths.

And as funny as it is seeing Dazzle and Rad deal with digital in completely different ways, the commonalities and questions certainly arise in both cases, and should interest anybody looking to “jack in” when virtual reality becomes a serious player.
