“Stop or My Mummy Will Shout”

So to prove he’s also worthy of her affection & love, Mavis and the gang decide to help him in a scheme to make him look like he runs the Hotel. However, the facade doesn’t exactly last when Lydia isn’t too thrilled about Pedro’s deception And Pedro slowly makes things worse by making himself look like royalty.

Our Take

“116 Candles” was an ok episode as jokes were hit & miss and we can somewhat see both sides of the argument as Mavis develops an understanding that running a family business (Hotel or otherwise) is “not a One Monster Job”.

And while the latter episode’s title is a callback to one of the worst Stallone movies ever made, It’s Ironically a different kind of bad… the entire episode felt like a formulaic sitcom with an ending that’s predictable, cliched and the entire twist at the end was hideously contrived as it built around Pedro’s tiny job to “flip a switch” that’s only designed for his “Mummy Hands” to function only and nobody else? That’s clearly a design flaw.

I hope the rest of the episodes aren’t this bad because this one was an insult to my intelligence…
