Review: Ballmastrz 9009 “Chaste Wing of the Cold Turkey vs. Flaming Fist of Indulgence! ; Strength Through Song; Brotherhood Through Blood; Redemption Through Rage. Sing, Fallen Angel!”

Do we finish strong?

Overview (Spoilers Below)

“Chaste Wing of the Cold Turkey vs. Flaming Fist of Indulgence!”

Gaz wants to get back in shape so she tries all sorts of shit to get her physique looking svelt. When she tries a shortcut, it blows up in her face, but she’s able to win a side bet against Baby Ball so it’s not all bad.

“Strength Through Song; Brotherhood Through Blood; Redemption Through Rage. Sing, Fallen Angel!”

The Leptons record a rap song that Gaz drops on her former team, the Boom Boom Boys, while tending at a local bar. When the Boys attempt to use the song against them during their matchup, it blows up in their face and causes the Leptons to be a stronger team and actually grab a win. Crayzar considers Gaz’s season-long debt paid off, and it looks like Gaz isn’t leaving the Leptons anytime soon.

Our Take

While the first half of this week’s finale was a bit cliche in its delivery, the second and final episode of the season was excellent. Yes, it would’ve been nice to have gotten some reminders over the course of the season to build some weight on Gaz’s contributions in the final episode, but the action sequences are so good you’re probably not going to care either way. The ingenuity for the characters designs makes way for fascinating cut scenes that showcase an almost effortless manner of which they are choreographed that really hasn’t been seen since Superjail.

We’ll go into more depth about the season as a whole in our season review, but Adult Swim has been doing a killer job introducing new intellectual property over the last six months, and that certainly comes to a head with Ballmastrz:9009.
