Netflix’s “I Think You Should Leave” Features An Animated “Metal Motto Search” Bit That Should Be A Spin-Off Series
Sam Richardson is one of the most talented voice actors in the business right now and has worked on a dozen or so series like HouseBroken, Velma, Clone High, Q-Force, M.O.D.O.K., and soon the upcoming FOX series Grimsburg. But his best animated bit may be a quick throwaway sequence featured in the new season of the sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson.
Season three kicked off on May 30th with six new episodes, and one of them entitled “”WHEN I FIRST THOUGHT OF THIS YOU DIDN’T EVEN HAVE HANDS UP THERE — YOU WERE JUST WALKING STRAIGHT UP THE WALL.” In the episode we get to see guest appearances from Sam Richardson, Conner O’Malley, Alison Martin, Tobit Raphael Capati, Robert Klein, Preacher Lawson, Zach Kanin, Mark Saul, and Robert Mukes that features all sorts of hilarious bits including Banana breath at sensitivity training, technical issues hit Metal Motto Search, Don Bon Darley loses his touch., and What’s up with Draven’s Tasty Time Vids?
The specific bit known as “Metal Motto Search” features a rather interesting animated He-Man ripoff, clearly parodying the classic Saturday Morning cartoons of the 1980s, featuring Sam Richardson in the title role and produced by Augenblick Studios. The result is hilarious, what I hope is an intentional, bit that really should be a backdoor pilot for a whole series because even in its quick execution I found it hilarious. For my money, I think Netflix has got something here in terms of a new animated comedy series that could be spun-off and could potentially feature both Richardson and even Tim Robinson given that he’s a hilarious voice actor in his own right having appeared in series like Teenage Euthanasia, Digman!, and a slew of others so the streamer really has all of the makings here of a great animated comedy series.
The Emmy-winning I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson is streaming now on Netflix.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
