HBOMAX Snags “Family Guy” Writer For Overall Deal

The last credited script that Wellesley Wild developed for Family Guy was for the episode “Trans-Fat“, and we’re usually good for one or two episodes a year from the long-running show producer and collaborator with Alec Sulkin and Seth MacFarlane. However, with this new deal that Variety is reporting on with HBO MAX, that may be the last we hear from Mr. Wild on the Family Guy front for quite some time.

That’s because Wellesley Wild has signed a new overall deal to produce animated series of all varieties for HBO Max:

Under the deal, Wild will develop, write and produced new animated projects for adult, kids and family audiences across all the platforms that Warners’ animation department services.

While Wild’s deal will primarily focus on animation, it also encompasses the other scripted divisions within the Warner Bros. TV group and leaves open the possibility for him to develop live-action projects for the different arms of the company.

HBO MAX will already be home to numerous adult animation fare both acquired and new including South Park, The Jetsons, a new take on The Boondocks, Close Enoughand more, so locking up Wellesley to potentially produce more especially having just picked up an original animated series from another longtime Family Guy producer Gary Janetti, the not-yet-launched streaming service is bulking up to be competitive in this market.
