FXX Announces Details on Simpsons Marathon, App, and Future Schedule

THE SIMPSONS: SEASON 21

As we previously reported, The Simpsons will kick off their new FXX deal with one hell of a housewarming party, after announcing plans to host the longest running marathon in television history. Beginning on August 21st at 10am, the network will air every single episode of The Simpsons (and the movie!) in chronological order. If you can’t do the math in your head, showing all 25 seasons (a total of 522 episodes) 24-hours-a-day will bring the marathon to a close on September 1st.

However, if you don’t have 12 full days to kill, The Simpsons will also have the entire catalog available in October via SimpsonsWorld.com and the FXNOW apps for iPhone, iPad, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Android phones & tablets, Smart TVs, and other set-top devices.

The “Simpsons World” will offer authenticated viewers unrestricted access to every episode in a unique and personalized experience, according to the show’s press release, with “new ways to explore Springfield’s characters and locations, the ability for users to curate their own personalized playlists, and share their favorite show clips and quotes,” it said.

On September 2nd, FXX will begin regularly scheduling The Simpsons in fringe, primetime, and late-nights slots on weekdays and weekends. Additionally, every Sunday will feature a themed mini-marathon of eight episodes at 4pm, leading up to the 8pm broadcast on FOX.

If you’re wondering about the consequences of so many Simpsons episodes airing & being available at once, FXX has provided a bit of a preview below.

In all seriousness, this is actually a relatively accurate representation of what could happen to the world. In my (much shorter) marathons, I’ve allowed two houses to burn down, three girlfriends to walk out, and a smelly homeless man to share my bed.

He still hasn’t left, but you know what? I don’t hate it.
