FOX COMMITS ‘MURDER’: ORDERS UP ‘MURDER POLICE’
Read all about FOX’s new animated series Murder Police, and what this could mean for the future of both The Cleveland Show and other shows FOX might have in development.
Quite a while ago we spoke of a new animated series being exec-produced by Family Guy exec producer David Goodman and his partner in crime(HA!!! See what I did there?) Jason Ruiz called Murder Police. According to Deadline.com, the series has been ordered for 13 episodes with a start date of Fall 2013. The series is said to follow “a dedicated but inept detective and his partner in a twisted city precinct as they try to solve serious crimes”.
The series is being developed by Bento Box (Brickleberry, Bob’s Burgers) but the real story here is the future of The Cleveland Show of which certainly is clouded with this announcement. As we previously reported The Cleveland Show has NOT been picked up for a fifth season and with this pickup at BEST the show may get a short order if not a complete cancellation. That said, I’m sure Cleveland would be more than happy to move back across the street of Spooner to help entertain the Griffins. That said, The Cleveland Show has been better this season than previous seasons, but with the recent announcement of Rich Appel being promoted to Family Guy showrunner, one has to think that Fuzzy Door is preparing for the future.
I also would NOT be surprised if some other animated series if not The Cleveland Show gets some sort of pickup due to the fact that currently Murder Police only has 13 episodes ordered and The Cleveland Show is usually good for around 23 in any given season. This leaves a balance of 10 weeks of Animation Domination of which to use for another new series, which we already know isn’t the Adam Carolla pilot(which was good) which leaves potential openings for the new Mike Barker/Patton Oswalt collabo or something else. We will be sure to keep you guys updated when we hear anything.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
