English Dub Review: The Day I Became a God “The Day of the Deicide”

Overview

After last week’s big reveal, Hiroto Suzuki the Hacker (who’s had a minor subplot up until this point) secretly observes Hina and Yota as they return to the movie set. He then decides to go home to continue his analysis but makes a shocking discovery…

Our Take

Well, sooner or later we all knew something like this was gonna happen in this show yet I really didn’t expect so much of it to happen so quickly and suddenly. Up until last week, it was still all fun and games and now we get an even bigger twist in regards to Hina/Odin’s condition.

Although I don’t have any problems with the plot idea itself, most of this show has spent its time kind of messing around with its slice of life wacky hijinks and barely fleshed out the story at a decent pace that all of this coming near the end of its run just doesn’t really feel as particularly impactful as it should.

Overall an interesting episode that did well to shed some light on the true nature of Hina, as well as delving deep into Hiroto’s backstory. While a good portion of the episode was mostly Hiroto-focused, The whole reveal of what Hina is exactly, left me more surprised about the way everything happened, which leaves me without any idea of what’s going to happen next. It’s not even the final episode and yet, series creator Jun Maeda is already delivering on the melodrama in spades.
