Details About Netflix’s Next Adult Animated Comedy From The Producers Of Big Mouth Leak

It will be interesting to see the balance of adult animated comedies and dramas, especially those that are continuing to come from legacy deals with outside studios and producers. One of the last deals that Netflix adult animation VP Mike Moon made at the streamer before departing for his own label at Illumination was with producers Brutus Pink (Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett), the studio behind Netflix’s Big Mouth and Human Resources. As part of that deal, the idea was for the studio to continue to produce new IP and we have some good clues on what could be the next one.

According to Reddit user u/JaketoCake, the producers of Big Mouth have a new adult animated comedy in development at Netflix called DrainLand which features staff writer Jeffrey Self (of whom notes that the whole series has already been ordered) and the series will feature WGA staff according to the company’s website that you can see here.

Not much else is known about the series just yet, but this comes off of a pretty solid year for Netflix in terms of drama, anthologies, etc., however, a rather lacking year in new adult animated comedies given that none made our best adult animated series of 2022, and only ONE comedy in total even got in and that was Inside Job. 

Other adult animated comedies on the way for Netflix includes Mulligan, new seasons of Big Mouth and Human Resources, and the long-awaited Agent King which recently came up as a topic in a new interview that The Wrap did with Sony Pictures Animation.
