Dark Comedy Meets Surreal Satire: BFI-Backed Animated Short ‘Hag’ Announced
Production companies Strange Beast and Passion Pictures have announced their latest collaboration, “Hag,” a BFI-backed animated short film from director Anna Ginsburg. Described as a dark comedy and surreal satire, the film aims to explore the pressures and anxieties of modern womanhood through animation.
“Hag” delves into highly relatable, yet monstrous, aspects of contemporary female experience. The plot centers on an exploration of breakups, impending doom, and the monstrous pressures of modern womanhood.
Director Anna Ginsburg stated that the film “was born out of a moment where I felt trapped between who I was and who society expected me to be.” She aims for the short to “confront those suffocating archetypes head-on and create a film that turns private anxieties into something shared, surreal and, hopefully, liberating.”
Writer Miranda Latimer added that the short is “the culmination of historical research, jokes and conversations around femininity and ageing,” hoping it will resonate with anyone who has “suddenly felt alienated from themselves and the world around them.”

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
