Comics Review: Black Dynamite #1

Five months later, and Black Dynamite finally comes out. Was it worth the obnoxious wait? That’s a good question.

Spoilers Below

We start the comic with a suit eyeballing what looks like Dynamite while he is walking down the road.  We jump to the past, in the hood of Dynamite, where Too Swole  invades the block party. This interrupts Dynamite with his Kung-Fu lesson with Mama. Dynamite makes it to the party, and Swole’s two hostages get thrown up in the air. This is all thanks to Dynamite’s poor choice of words. He dispatches Swole, but the neighborhood wants him to leave, because of all the collateral damage from his street fights. So, he leaves, not to come back. Time passes, and he is confronted by the suit from the first couple pages. He breaks his arm, but the surprise is on Dynamite. It all turns out to be an illusion, controlled by a whole new entity.

This has the feel of Black Dynamite, and the look of the 70’s. This is how the comic should look! While the book was great, the question still remains. Is it worth the delays that it had? The answer is…not 6 months. I was expecting something bigger, I guess. With the delays, I was expecting a comic worthy of a 10.  It wasn’t bad, but anything seems like a disappointment when it gets delayed for 5 months, and it didn’t get perfection. It’s safe to say however, that Black Dynamite kicked our ass, and threw this book before he got in the room!
