“Beavis and Butt-Head” Creator Mike Judge Returns To Animation Via Cinemax

In celebration, Mike’s gonna do a Skinemax flick where he plays the plumber.

Beavis and Butt-Head creator Mike Judge is getting back into the cartoon game with a brand-new series coming to Cinemax called Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus.

The series is similar to the growing trend in “animated tales” subgenre of animated sketch shows that boomed last year that networks like MTV, Viceland, WWE Network, TruTV, and more have already capitalized on. The series chronicles the tales of some of country music’s most eccentric characters. According to Deadline.com whom broke the story:

The show has been ordered for eight episodes that are already in production and will premiere sometime later this year.

Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus is co-created by Judge, Richard Mullins, and The Last Ride co-writer Dub Cornett.  Judge and Cornett executive produce. Bob Engelman (The Mask) is co-executive producer and Mullins is producing.

Our Take

I don’t know anything about country music, but I’m glad to see Mike Judge back in the cartoon game in SOME sort of capacity.  The premise is rather ordinary, and sort of flamed out last year by the time we got to Christmas, but from what I hear it’s affordable which is exactly the type of content Cinemax is looking for.
