Batman: Caped Crusader Not Happening At HBO MAX
As part of a number of cuts HBO MAX has been burning through lately, Batman: Caped Crusader is no longer moving forward at the streamer which has been having a rough go of it in August. The series featured Bruce Timm’s return to Batman and was to be produced by Bad Robot, WB Animation, and 6th & Idaho.
From what I have been told by sources well-placed, the series isn’t moving forward because there are multiple producers on the project making the series not as profitable as other series like say Harley Quinn, and WarnerMedia is quickly shedding itself of any projects with JJ Abrams’ name on it.
The series is expected to be shopped to other networks and streamers, so there’s still hope we see this one.

Update 8/28: Hulu, Netflix, and AppleTV+ are in line attempting to bid for the series.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
