REVIEW: GRAVITY FALLS “THE TIME TRAVELER’S PIG”

Dipper wants to correct a mistake he made in the past with assistance from a time machine.  Meanwhile, Mabel is overjoyed when she wins a pet pig at a fair.

Uncle Stan is putting on the cheapest fair money can’t buy for Gravity Falls and Dipper works up the courage to ask Wendy to go with him. But, trouble ensues when a mis-thrown baseball from Dipper knocks Wendy right in the eye. Meanwhile, Mabel guesses the weight of a pig and wins it so she can show it off to Pacifica.  In a fit of panic, Dipper runs to go get ice for Wendy’s eye but by the time he gets back Robbie is there consoling Wendy over her bruised eye with a snow cone. As luck would have it, he meets a time-traveler named Blendin Blandin. Turns out Blendin uses a tape measure as a time machine and his mission is to stop a bunch of different time anomalies at his exact location. However, the kids convince Blendin to take a break and enjoy some rides which gives Dipper the perfect opp to take Blendin’s tape measure.

The kids use the tape measure to go back in time, Mabel gets her pig while Dipper is back at the precise moment she bashed Wendy with the baseball. This time Dipper throws the ball and wins Wendy a prize! BUT, not before the ball bounces back and hits Wendy in the eye again therefore setting motion the whole Robbie thing that we saw before. Dipper then tries to go back in time again…and again…and again…and again. Each time he keeps smashing Wendy in face! However, on the final try Dipper gets it right where he uses Mabel’s help to win the prize but this time not injure Wendy. However, Mabel loses out on winning her pig and instead it goes to Pacifica! Mabel rushes over to Dipper who is hitting it off with Wendy but because Mabel doesn’t have her pig she wants to go back in time again. Dipper on the other hand does not want to go back in time but after Mabel and him fight it out they accidentally set off the tape measure which brings them back….WAY back!

Mabel and Dipper travel all over the place, first they go to 150 years in the past to meet settlers, then they go even further back to meet dinosaurs, then they go wy in the future in seeing Time Baby destroying everything, to finally going back to when Dipper won Wendy’s heart but Mabel didn’t win her pig. At first, Dipper’s fine with it, but soon becomes saddened by the fact that Mabel isn’t getting her pig. As such, Dipper goes back once more to smash Wendy, Mabel wins her pig, and Blendin gets taken away from the Time Traveler enforcement patrol. However, all doesn’t seem TOO lost for Dipper and Wendy all due, that’ll do pig, Waddles.

Another really great Gravity Falls episode. Yes, I know time travel isn’t exactly the most original plot but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t fun! Definitely reminding me of the popular Family Guy “Road to the Multiverse” episode, “Time Traveler’s Pig” was a fun trip that not only spanned the dinosaurs to the future, but also did a awesome trip down memory lane to some of the episodes we’ve already seen this season. Justin Roiland lent his voice as Blendin which was great because it helped me appease my Fish Hooks fix. Also, the ability to make this a time travelling episode, but still bring it home to a heart-warming Babe like conclusion was pretty awesome, serving notice that Mr. Hirsch sure as hell knows what he is doing.
