Shorts Review: RipSnorting Episode 1

happy

Spoilers Below

If you’re anything like me I will hunt you down and destroy you, because there can be only one you’re probably wondering where Sanity Not Included co-creator Lyle “McDouchebag” Burruss went when he left the show. The answer is a two minute animated pilot called Rip Snorting, which premiered Saturday on Machinima’s Happy Hour YouTube channel.

Created, directed, and written by Burruss, the show features Rip Snorting, a tall, muscular explorer, and his smaller, more reluctant, oft-ignored and exploited sidekick, whom actually appears to be the smarter of the two. His name is unclear, since he is referred to as Giuseppe, Tevenski, Gonzalez, and Rafiki in the short runtime.

After being shipwrecked and having their boat captured by a jerk of a giant squid, Snorting temporarily considers resulting to cannibalism, before spotting a Tyrannosaurus Rex that he immediately attacks just prior to the end credits.

It’s hard to judge a show by such a short pilot, but it hasn’t mucked anything up thus far, so that’s a good sign. The two main characters compliment each other nicely, and there were enough laughs to entertain and pique some interest for the follow-up. Lyle McDouchebag’s break from Machinima-style animation (while still staying on the Machinima channel) is off to a promising start.

And hey, Rip Snorting already has one big edge on Sanity Not Included: it released a new episode in the last 50 days.
