Marvel Animation took center stage at New York Comic Con 2026 during its highly anticipated panel at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, delivering huge reveals for Disney+ subscribers. Highlights included major updates on the TV-MA animated series Marvel Zombies and the official premiere date alongside key story details for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2.

‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Season 2 Locks Early 2027 Release

After initial expectations pointed toward a late 2026 return, Marvel Animation officially announced that Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on January 13, 2027.

Head writer Jeff Trammell took the stage to showcase exclusive footage and tease what’s next for Hudson Thames’ web-slinger:

  • The Black Suit Arc: Season 2 will dive headfirst into the iconic symbiote storyline, putting Peter Parker inside the classic black suit as he faces escalating threats.

  • Expanded Rogues Gallery: First-look footage showcased classic Spider-Man foes, including Doctor Octopus and Shocker, alongside teases for Eddie Brock, Gwen Stacy, and the Lizard.

  • Daredevil Returns: Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, teaming up with Spider-Man and undercover ally Finesse to take on emerging threats linked to Oscorp.

‘Marvel Zombies’ Returns with Three Annual Specials

In addition to web-slinging updates, Marvel Animation expanded on its gritty, TV-MA spin-off Marvel Zombies. Following up on the original four-episode event, Marvel announced plans to turn the zombie saga into a multi-year Halloween tradition.

The three Marvel Zombies animated specials announced by Marvel Animation are:

Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier (Premiering Halloween 2027)

Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu (Premiering 2028)

Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian (Premiering 2029)

Expanding the Disney+ Animated Slate

With Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man kicking off the 2027 release schedule in January and Marvel Zombies carving out a permanent footprint for autumn horror content, Marvel Animation is continuing to build a distinct, multi-genre slate across streaming.
