English Dub Review: Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs “They Hit Where It Hurts”

Overview

The light unleashed from the royal ship robs everyone of their will to fight, except for Vandel.

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, the situation takes a much darker turn as the war continues to spiral out of control. The episode reveals the surprising truth behind the Kingdom’s Matriarchy: it was deliberately created as part of a long-term plan to weaken the nobility and prevent future rebellions. However, their supposedly forward-thinking strategy was deeply flawed, and that’s putting it mildly…

At the same time, the conflict continues escalating as personal tragedies push several characters to their breaking points. More importantly, some of the major twists surrounding Hertrude finally come back around with real consequences, giving her storyline a much heavier sense of impact than before. What initially felt like another piece of the larger conflict now carries genuine emotional and narrative weight, making her situation considerably more compelling. The developments involving Vandel, the Principality, and the increasingly dangerous threat facing everyone give the episode a much heavier atmosphere. Luxion also comes through with a much-needed upgrade for Leon, while Marie appears to have figured out something that could prove crucial. Everything feels like it’s rapidly building toward the climax.

Overall, this was another entertaining episode that balances action, lore, and some surprisingly dark developments. The Matriarchy reveal was certainly unexpected, even if its explanation could have been handled better, while the consequences surrounding Hertrude add some much-needed emotional and narrative weight to the ongoing conflict. With only **two episodes left**, there’s not much time to wrap everything up, so I’m curious to see how it all comes together.
