English Dub Review: The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen “The Diabolical Princess and the Fool”
Overview:
Cedric doesn’t understand how close he is to causing an international incident. Pride may not like him, but she can’t allow such a mistake to happen.
Our Take(Spoilers):
Cedric isn’t the only one who doesn’t understand what’s going on. Pride mentioned that she knew Cedric’s real reason for coming to get an alliance. But I have to admit I’m a little lost when it comes to the motives. Not only that, but it felt like Pride was being rude for no reason. Up until this point, she’s acted differently when it came to the male characters because of her knowledge of the game.
She always seems to give them slack if they’re going to do something bad, but when it comes to Cedric, she rakes him over the coals. From what I can tell, Cedric is trying to overplay his hand when, in actuality, his country is in desperate need of help. How exactly would that cause an international incident, and why does he deserve to be yelled at like he was? I don’t know Cedric any better than any other character when first introduced, but it’s a little odd that Pride seems to treat him worse than any of the other guys during their first appearance.
I can understand why she got so angry when Cedric ate all the food she made. But even that wasn’t the worst thing we’ve seen someone do in this series alone. It seems a little odd that Cedric is almost held to a higher standard than the other characters. This arc isn’t over yet, so it could definitely improve.
I’ve never been bothered by Pride before, but this was something that seemed so out of character for her. To be fair, I also don’t understand why Cedric would be deceitful about why he was there. If I’m being honest, I think I was a little disappointed as well. Pride insinuated that she knew why he was focusing on her now as well, and I guess I expected something a little spicier. Instead, it was essentially that he had too much pride (heh) to beg for help from the Queen.
Maybe this is one of those things where we’ll get a flashback that explains things a little more. I’m still on board with this show, but let’s hope this was just a rare hiccup in what has been a great series so far.
