From ‘Big Mouth’ to the Animal Kingdom: Netflix Announces ‘Mating Season’ Cast and Premiere Date

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Netflix has officially revealed the details for its latest adult animated venture. From the creative minds behind the global hit Big Mouth, the new series “Mating Season” is set to bring a wild new perspective to the world of dating and relationships.

Accompanying a playful “Will You Be Ours?” announcement, Netflix confirmed that the series will make its global debut on May 22, 2026.

The Premise: Love is a Jungle (Literally)

Mating Season is described as an adult animated romantic comedy set entirely within the animal world. The show aims to explore the universal—and often awkward—realities of love, sex, and the biological drive to find a partner, all through the lens of “horny, lovable forest critters.”

The series promises to tackle the complexities of modern romance using a variety of species, from bears and raccoons to deer and foxes, proving that whether you have fur, feathers, or scales, the search for “The One” is never easy.

A Star-Studded Voice Cast

The announcement introduced the main “species” leading the series, featuring a lineup of comedy veterans:

  • Nick Kroll as ‘Ray’

  • Zach Woods as ‘Josh’

  • June Diane Raphael as ‘Fawn’

  • Sabrina Jalees as ‘Penelope’

Nick Kroll, a co-creator of the project, continues his long-standing relationship with Netflix following the success of Big Mouth and its spinoff Human Resources. He is joined by Silicon Valley standout Zach Woods and Grace and Frankie star June Diane Raphael, both of whom are no strangers to the world of adult animation.

The Creative Team

The series reunites the core creative team that turned Big Mouth into a cultural phenomenon. Mark Levin, Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg, and Nick Kroll serve as executive producers.

On the animation side, the powerhouse studio Titmouse (The Venture Bros., Star Trek: Lower Decks) is handling the production. Executive producers for Titmouse include Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina.
