Netflix Announces Anime Acquisitions For 2026

Netflix is packing the heat with anime this year and to prove it they just announced new and returning series dropping in the coming year.

January 2026: A Season of Conclusions and Artistry

The year kicks off on January 10 with Fire Force Season 3 Part II. This final chapter brings the story of Shinra Kusakabe and the Special Fire Force to its “explosive conclusion” as they fight to save the world from spontaneous human combustion.

On January 15, Netflix debuts Love Through a Prism, a coming-of-age series from Boys Over Flowers creator Yoko Kamio. Set in a London art academy at the start of the 20th century, the story follows Lili Ichijoin’s journey as a painter. The series is directed by Kazuto Nakazawa and produced by WIT Studio.

Closing out the month on January 22 is the feature film Cosmic Princess Kaguya!. Directed by Shingo Yamashita, the film is set in a virtual realm called Tsukuyomi and features a soundtrack crafted by notable Vocaloid producers, including ryo (supercell) and kz (livetune). It is a joint production between Studio Chromato and Studio Colorido.

February and March 2026: Legends and Icons

BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai arrives on February 26. Produced by TMS Entertainment, this new series centers on a plan to resurrect the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi to face Baki and other modern underground fighters.

March brings two major releases:

  • STEEL BALL RUN JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Launching March 19, this adaptation of the seventh arc of Hirohiko Araki’s saga follows a 19th-century cross-continental horse race across North America.

  • BEASTARS Final Season Part 2: Releasing later in March, the final chapter of this ensemble drama sees Legoshi and Louis navigating their respective paths as the conflict between herbivores and carnivores intensifies. The series continues to be produced by CG animation specialist Studio Orange.

Spring and Summer 2026: Youth and Revolution

On April 2, Netflix will release The Ramparts of Ice. Based on the popular manga by Kocha Agasawa, the story follows a reclusive student named Koyuki Hikawa who is gradually drawn out of her shell by her peers.

Finally, Sparks of Tomorrow is scheduled for July 2026. This project from Kyoto Animation is set in an alternate early 20th century dominated by steam power. Based on the novel 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku, the story follows two young people exploring the secrets of a catalog that offers a glimpse into an “Age of Electricity”
