Inside ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Fortnite’ Collaboration: A Complete Springfield Takeover
After years of speculation, the longest-running animated series in television history, The Simpsons, has made its massive, month-long debut in the world of the video game phenomenon Fortnite. This is not just a standard skin-pack crossover; it is a full-scale, meta-narrative takeover that has transformed Fortnite‘s battle royale island into the vibrant, cel-shaded town of Springfield.
The collaboration, which launched on November 1, 2025, represented one of the most comprehensive crossover events in Fortnite‘s history, merging the game’s core mechanics with the rich, 37-year history of the beloved Fox show.
A New Map and Narrative Shorts
The heart of the event is the entirely new Springfield Island map. The Battle Royale environment was overhauled and rendered in a cel-shaded style that faithfully recreates the iconic look of the TV series. Players can now drop from the Battle Bus directly into famous locations like Evergreen Terrace, Moe’s Tavern, the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, and Burns Manor. The island is also riddled with dozens of “hidden gags” and Easter eggs, delighting long-time fans with deep-cut references to minor characters and legendary couch gags.
Further deepening the integration, the collaboration was supported by a series of new and original animated shorts co-produced by Epic Games and Gracie Films, which handles The Simpsons. These weekly “mini-episodes” premiered globally on Disney+ and within the Fortnite client, serving a meta-narrative purpose: they explain how the world of Springfield merged with Fortnite‘s reality.
The first short, “Apocalypse D’Oh,” featured a “deliciously meta” line where a spaceship assistant quips that “Multiple realities have merged in a cynical brand mash-up,” acknowledging the nature of the crossover. These shorts also teased weekly gameplay changes and new content tied to the unfolding story.
Skins, Sidekicks, and Quests
The month-long mini-season included a special Battle Pass loaded with character outfits and cosmetics, including playable versions of:
-
Homer Simpson (with an “Evil Homer” alternate style)
-
Marge Simpson (with a “Witch Marge” style)
-
Ned Flanders (with a highly anticipated “Stupid Sexy Flanders” style)
The collaboration also introduced “Springfielder” remixes of popular Fortnite characters, like Blinky Fishstick and Springfielder Peely.
Beyond cosmetics, the event featured themed gameplay mechanics:
-
New Items: Health and shield consumables were replaced by items like Duff splashes and the Super Squishee, which granted players enhanced speed and unlimited sprint.
-
Bosses and Mythics: Players could face off against bosses like Witch Marge, Evil Homer, and Krusty, who dropped unique weapons, including the mythic Jebediah’s Protective Helm which protects against a single headshot.
-
Sidekicks: The event debuted a new in-game feature called “Sidekicks,” customizable companion NPCs, with the first one being Peels, a banana dog included in the Battle Pass.
The sheer scale of the Simpsons takeover—from the full map change and weekly narrative shorts to the deep integration of lore and characters—has set a new, high bar for Fortnite‘s ambitious strategy of merging gaming with major pop culture franchises.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
