English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Hawaiians and Girlfriend”

Overview: 

The Hawaiians stay begins in absolute chaos as Mami has joined the fray!

Our Take:

Holy shit, this show needs to be renamed Simp Boys or something because most of this episode was Kazuya and his friends oogling over Chizuru and Ruka in their swimsuits. I don’t like using the term “simp” or “gooner,” but this show has become grade A gooner bait. There were so many scenes that focused on ass, titties, and thighs. Don’t get me wrong, I love these things too, but usually they’re just something thrown in addition to something else. High School DxD, for example, has wayyyy more fan service than this episode does, but the context in which it’s presented matters a lot.

One good thing that came of all the fan service was a “telepathic” conversation underwater between Kazuya, Kibe, and Kuribayashi. They were arguing over who had the better “features” between Chizuru and Ruka. It was funny seeing them argue underwater, but if they could understand each other, I find it fascinating that Kuribayashi was talking about them being rental girlfriends in front of Kibe. To the best of my knowledge, Kibe doesn’t know about the rental girlfriend situation, and with him being close to Kazuya’s grandma, that could be a huge problem.
