English Dub Review: Tougen Anki “The Beauty is a Beast”

Overview:

Yomogi uses his power to seal off the underground, and the students must fight to survive.

Our Take:

I doubt that Kyouya is dead for real, but seeing him go down like he did was definitely sad. But I have faith that he will come back and save the day in some way. Once he heard that the Momotauro were looking for Shiki, it flipped a switch in him. Maybe he got a little overprotective and will do whatever he can to help the kids, but when it comes to fiction, if we don’t see the body, then the person isn’t dead.

We got to see more of Kuina this episode, and I think I might have a new favorite. She has some serious mothering energy, and when she gets the feeling that Mikado needs her to take care of him, she pounces on the opportunity. I was picking up some yandere vibes, but in a wholesome way? Her oni blood power had two things to it, I think. She coated her hands in blood like boxing gloves to beat the shit out of the monster, but as more of her blood got on her opponent, it was like she charmed them. I’m excited for more of a character now, but since she’s a support character, I don’t think we’ll get to see her much, unfortunately.
