English Dub Review: I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability “Jihriel’s Miracles”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
After teleporting in the direction of a presence he sensed, Lloyd and Grim arrive in the realm of angels.

Our Take:
The beginning of the second season’s first episode teased us with Lloyd’s epic battle above the clouds against an angel, hinting at Lloyd’s quest to obtain divine sorcery.  While brief, it further demonstrated Lloyd’s overpowered capabilities through the animation style’s visually vibrant chaos, despite my underwhelming feelings towards the anime.  This week’s episode provides viewers with a clear context that led to that specific duel, as Lloyd and Grim find themselves in the realm of angels while hunting down a presence they have sensed.  There, they encountered an arrogant angel named Jihriel, who’s obsessed with heading down to the surface and meeting Esher in person.
The battle between Lloyd and Jihriel further showcased the show’s vibrant and cartoony style, as well as Lloyd’s powerful capabilities.  However, the most crucial thing to emerge from the battle was Lloyd’s obsession with learning magic.  After overpowering Jihriel, the angel agrees to help Lloyd master divine sorcery, only to discover that Lloyd mastered it easily, much to his disappointment.  This is due to his desire to learn the process of casting spells and taking things step by step, because if he mastered it in less than ten seconds, then what would be the point?  That alone further classifies Lloyd as an OP protagonist who prioritizes studying over everything else, including being the most powerful being in the universe.  While his appearance still overshadows his personality, it appears that the second season is attempting to make Lloyd a bit more tolerable compared to how he was in the first season.
Of course, it did result in Jihriel being trapped in Lloyd’s hand as part of their pact, a similar fate that happened to Grim in the first season.  However, it also resulted in a brief encounter with a mysterious priest whose unknown intentions could provide a challenge for Lloyd’s newfound divine sorcery.  “Jihriel’s Miracles” serves as a slight improvement over the first episode in terms of animation for Lloyd’s encounter with Jihriel, although it still has flaws that hinder its potential.  One of which was the dialogue, which was difficult for me to hear what the characters were saying, particularly Grim, whose high-pitched voice rendered most of his dialogue undecipherable without subtitles.  Besides that, it’s a flawed yet respectably brief conclusion to Lloyd’s quest to gain divine sorcery.
