English Dub Review: The Apothecary Diaries “Festering Resentment”

Overview:

Luomen returns to the rear palace. His observations trigger Maomao’s curiosity.

Our Take:

A lot is going on, and honestly, my mind is reeling so much that I’m having difficulty making sense of it all. Luomen, Maomao’s father, is coming back, it seems, and that was more or less handled in the first part of the episode. After that is when things started to get a little muddy for me because some characters are being thrown in that I have a hard time remembering without looking them up.

Maomao was lured into a trap by Suirei, a court lady who is a bit taller than most women and has a husky voice, so she pretends to be a man sometimes. That’s how she lured Maomao into this trap and has taken her captive, but I didn’t catch the WHY of it all.

As you can imagine, Maomao going missing made Jinshi very upset, but he had a meeting he couldn’t miss. He enlisted the help of Ah-Duo to pretend to be Jinshi for the meeting with Lakan. It was dealing with how to mass produce the weapons that were used to try and take Jinshi’s life. There are so many things going on right now, I don’t know which to focus on, but I hope Jinshi rescues Maomao happens soon.
