English Dub Review: Shangri-La Frontier “Current Situations and Next Steps”

Utopia, SLF’s development company, is in a tizzy over the defeat of Wethermon the Tombguard. Sunraku is excited to kick off his bonus unique scenario Vorpal Epic. He then decides to check out the loot he received from defeating Wethermon…

Our Take

This time around, we meet the titular game’s main employees who are different levels of dysfunctional and are less than thrilled that a Boss who was recently killed wasn’t supposed to die so soon. Not to mention two of the developers are at each other’s throats badly, despite two out of the three admitting to being hygienically challenged…

At the same time, this is going on, we see the aftermath of all the main characters with Sunraku getting some badass items/upgrades, and Pencilgon who’s now starting over from the ground up in a new avatar without the Ashra Kai gear but both have decided to go on their journeys with new tasks presented to them, even if the story wants to keep waving the possibility of Rei/Psyger-0 wanting to get with Rakuro/Sunraku at some point.

Overall, a new story arc has begun, and given that this show is said to be 25 episodes long, we now have 5 episodes left to finally get to the bottom of this unraveling mystery within the game. Or maybe we’ll learn more about that wolf boss Lycagon since it made a surprise appearance at the end. Either way, none of it was dull (including the post-credits scene) and left me wanting more with the combination of these new mysteries mixed with this new arc happening I look forward to seeing how all this plays out!
