English Dub Review: Dead Mount Death Play “The Vampire”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
One group of police officers leave empty-handed, but Polka and co. can’t rest easy just yet—Inspector Iwanome is back for answers. The duo who tried to frame them hasn’t given up, either, and one is a face from Takumi’s past.
Our Take:
If the second part of Dead Mount Death Play were released a week later than scheduled, this would’ve made for a fitting Halloween episode based on the episode title alone. But I guess it’s better to have it released a week later than several weeks. Of course, there are much bigger problems than the release strategy, starting with the dead body of Clarissa’s former employee, who was found in the building. However, that shocking discovery isn’t enough to drive Kocho out of the reporting game. But, as we discovered in this week’s episode, Kocho’s meddling is the least of Polka’s problems.
Aside from Iwanome and Arase swarming behind Polka’s past, the episode depicts Takumi confronting his past in the form of Momoya and his partner, Hikaru. We’ve seen these two standing on the sidelines for only one episode, and now we get to see their torturous ways in action again during their goal to destroy the Shinoyama family. But that’s not all this episode has to offer. It also has Misaki back in action, as Clarissa sends her to rescue Takumi from Momoya and Hikaru, but it’s far from an easy task for the mentally unstable assassin. Lucky for her, she got herself an upgrade, which is where the episode’s title comes in. You read that right. Misaki has been promoted from zombie to vampire for some reason. I’m pretty sure Polka might’ve explained Misaki’s transformation, but I couldn’t remember most of it.
However, Misaki isn’t the only person going after Momoya and Hiraku. Near the episode’s end, we see that Xiaoyu has joined the party after hearing the captors’ true agenda. Considering his loyalty toward the Shinoyama family, Xiaoyu isn’t going to let that slide despite his concerns about Polka. A vampire and a bodyguard is a pretty interesting combination, but will they be enough to rescue Takumi and defeat his captors?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
