Review: The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder “Old Towne Road Part 1”
Overview
When Trudy tracks Suga Mama’s family to Oklahoma, the Prouds head to the family rodeo, where Suga Mama’s painful history will be revealed. Oscar discovers he’s a natural cowboy.
Our Take
For those hoping for a Lil Nas X take over episode, be forewarned, he’s in the episode for maybe a handful of lines before they cut to a montage. Far more prominent are guest stars Glynn Turman and Debbie Allen who put in fantastic efforts as Suga Mama’s family. However, the first half of what is expected to be a multi-episodic arc of some sorts seems to rush a number of thread storylines jam-packed at once, none of which really flesh out in time. Mama’s bit is supposed to be the star of the show, and we get a flashback to help strengthen this, but rest of the Prouds are kind of all over the place.
Alas is a disappointing end to a strong first season of The Proud Family’s sequel series. We’ll get into more detail in our season review about that, but with season two already having been announced, we’re going to have to wait a while before we get any answers about this one.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
