SXSW 2021: Nuevo Rico & Solar Opposites Added To Lineup

Nuevo Rico is slated to be part of the SXSW festival in the animated shorts competition. The quarter-hour short film comes from Kristian Mercado with a cast that includes Jackie Cruz (Orange is the New Black). Check out the new trailer and poster.

In Nuevo Rico, a brother and sister stumble upon a celestial secret that changes their lives forever and propels them into Reggaetón stardom, but they soon discover that their newfound fame comes at a deep price.

A trailer for the show’s second season of Solar Opposites is headed to stream on February 24th, and the SXSW festival will be hosting an online virtual table read to help celebrate the March 26th premiere date. Eight episodes are on the way with a third season already having been ordered of the Mike McMahan/Justin Roiland joint that is streaming internationally on Disney’s Star service. Here’s what to expect at SXSW.
