kweliTV Nabs The Matumbila’s Signaling The Upstart Streamer’s Push In Adult Animation
kweliTV is an upstart streaming service celebrating black stories from the US and globally with curated indie films, docs, shows, kids series & events with content being curated by Lil Rey Howery. One of Rey’s first acquisitions is this new animated comedy called The Matumbilas from creator Zul Mansi, a Tanzanian-American from Massachusetts making his debut production.
The Matumbila’s is about a Tanzanian family living in middle-class America. The series deals with culture clashes between the immigrated parents and their first-generation American children.
You can watch the trailer below and get the entire eight episode series on kweliTV.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
