The Simpsons’ “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire” To Get FOX Prime-time Re-Airing

The last new episode of The Simpsons will premiere this Sunday Night @ 8 pm ET guest-starring Jane Lynch as “Jeannie”. In the episode entitled “‘Tis the 30th Season”, after a failed Black Friday shopping spree, Marge is determined to fix Christmas, however, Homer and the kids surprise Marge with a vacation to a Florida resort.

After that, FOX is planning to re-air “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire”, the very first episode of The Simpsons to ever air on FOX on December 23rd @ 8 pm ET. For those that don’t know, the episode featured the backstory on how Homer and the gang adopted Santa’s Little Helper from nearly being put down (one has to assume after how his previous owner treated him) after losing out at a dog race.  The episode was written by Mimi Pond and directed by David Silverman.
Update 12/6: FXX has announced a special marathon of their own on December 16th with hand-picked episodes for a 15-hour marathon. Here is what will be shown:
